Rev 19:15 From his mouth comes a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations, and he will rule them with a rod of iron. He will tread the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God the Almighty.
Rev 19:16 On his robe and on his thigh he has a name written, King of kings and Lord of lords.
Just a quick meditation about our Lord. He came as a humble king, mounted on a donkey, riding into Jerusalem, heading to the cross and what the Father had planned for Him. Like a lamb led to its shearers, He did not open His mouth. He took insults, severe beatings and finally crucifixion.
He did all of this in obedience to the Father, who had decreed all of this from the beginning (Is 53). Consequently, the Father rewarded Him, seating Him at His right hand, making Him head over all things in the church and placing everything under His feet, an expression denoting supremecy.
He now sits enthroned in Heaven, still accepting sinners who look to Him for forgiveness. He will not turn anyone away that the Father brings to Him for salvation (John 6:37).
But time is running out in two ways.
First, time may be running out in your life. No one knows how many days we have left on this earth. For this reason, the Scriptures declare, "Today is the day of salvation..." (2 Corinthians 6:2) If you're reading this, today is the day to repent of sin and believe in Jesus Christ, while there is still time.
Second, time is running out on this world. God the Father not only decreed the day of Christ's first coming, He decreed the day of His second. And as we see in the verses above, He won't be coming in a meek fashion. He will be coming as a conquering King, one who is about to exact judgment upon a world that has broken His commandments and rejected Him outright.
It is a fearful contemplation, to know that the King of the Universe is coming to "tread the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God the Almighty." (Revelation 19:15) He will do this with perfect clarity, perfect knowledge and in perfect righteousness. It will be a fearful day for the world.
But it does not have to be fearful for you who believe. God tells us in Psalm 91, that we will "...only look with your eyes and see the recompense of the wicked." (Psalm 91:8) It will be a day of triumph for those who believe in Jesus Christ.
For you who do not believe, and are reading this post, it is not too late. It is not too late to admit to Christ the King that you have broken His commandments. (Don't worry, we all have. I mean, really, can anyone say that they have never stolen, never lied, never coveted, ever in their entire lives? The Scriptures declare that all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God, sin being any transgression of His Law. (Romans 3:23, 1 John 3:4)
Flee to Him for forgiveness for the sins you have committed. He will not turn you away and you will find forgiveness. The Scriptures declare, "To him all the prophets bear witness that everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name." (Acts 10:43)
Flee to Him today, for today is the day of Salvation. Flee to Him today for the two reasons mentioned above. One way or another, time is running out.
The King is coming, not on a donkey, but on a white horse, not to die on a cross, but with a sword to judge the nations. When that day comes, it will be too late.
The Scriptures plainly declare, "Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household." (Acts 16:31)
There is no better time than now in your life. Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ. Be saved from your sins and from the terrible day the King of Kings will return.
