Alas, it seems Icarus may have flown a little too close to the sun, and our dream of Beyoncé as a flawless patriot with an eardrum-blessing take on "The Star-Spangled Banner" may be plummeting out of the sky. Suffice to say, The Times is reporting that Beyonce's national anthem during the president's second inauguration was lip-synced. A spokeswoman for the Marine Corp Band is saying it's standard practice for performers to record a backing track and, shortly before the actual performance, her Beyoncé-ness decided to use that track instead of risking the live performance. If that's true, then her ripping her earpiece out mid-spangle was a marvelous bit of acting that just proves Queen Bey is as good at lip-syncing as she is at everything else ...
